LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A resident at The Springs in Lafayette received a surprise of a lifetime Friday afternoon. The Springs will host a "Live the Dream" event for residents at the facility to fulfill their lifelong dreams. Cyril Sturm is a military veteran whose dream is to ride in a helicopter, and The Springs is making that dream a reality. Thanks to a local helicopter pilot, he will take his ride next Thursday. News 18 caught up with him after the announcement and got his reaction.
Greater Lafayette Commerce affirms support for SK hynix

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Registration is now open for this summer's radKIDS camp. The West Lafayette Police Department holds the program to teach life-saving skills. The radKIDS camp teaches kids through hands-on simulations. During five separate two-hour sessions, officers will cover a variety of topics. One of those topics includes teaching kids what to do if they get lost in a store. Officers also teach kids the difference between good people and bad people.

FORT WANYE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne International Airport will be opening The Gateway Lounge presented by STAR Bank. The lounge is a new amenity offered at FWA for passengers looking for an elevated airport experience while they wait to board their flight. The new lounge is located on the second floor of the airport. It will operate during standard airport operating hours, with annual memberships available for frequent flyers and day passes on a limited basis.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The West Lafayette Police Department is preparing to host the RAD women's self-defense classes. Since 2007 the department has hosted a program focused on keeping women safe. The Rape, Aggression, and Defense program includes lectures, discussions, and physical resistive strategies. Four total classes will take place at West Lafayette Intermediate School in West Lafayette. The classes will be June 23-26 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.The cost to participate is $20.00.
Logansport man sentenced to 98 years following molesting conviction

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) — A Logansport man has been sentenced to 98 years in the Indiana Department of Correction following a child molesting and exploitation conviction. 42-year-old Justin Bault was sentenced for two counts of child molesting and child exploitation. According to a news release from the Cass County Prosecutor's Office, in September 2022, detectives with the ISP interviewed two individuals who claimed to have been molested by Bault when they were under the age of 14.

Indiana State Police investigating inmate death at Tippecanoe County Jail

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Indiana State Police detectives are investigating an inmate death at the Tippecanoe County Jail. According to a press release from Indiana State Police, on Friday, deputies located an unresponsive inmate. The inmate was transported to a local hospital, where they remained under medical care until Monday, when the inmate passed away. A preliminary investigation indicates the injuries were self-inflicted, and no foul play is suspected.
Lafayette Farmer's Market returns May 3

The Lafayette Farmer's Market is set to return to downtown Lafayette for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. The market operates every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through October 25, rain or shine. The Lafayette Farmer's Market, organized by Greater Lafayette Commerce is in its 186th season. The market features 100 vendors and 26 of those are new this season.
