Financing for a new trash truck for the city’s street department gained approval Monday. Crawfordsville City Council members voted 6-0 to approve the first reading of an ordinance making an additional appropriation of $79,913 to the city’s 2025 budget. The funds are for a lease payment on the new trash truck. Mayor Todd Barton told the council the truck was ordered two years ago and was recently delivered.

No issues were found locally following Tuesday’s statewide test of the outdoor weather sirens. The Montgomery County Emergency Management and Homeland Security worked in conjunction with the Montgomery County Central Communication Center to ensure the outdoor weather sirens were synchronized with the statewide test. “Everything went as planned, and we did not encounter any issues,” said Jessica Burget, the director of the MC Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Montgomery County Commissioners have added carbon sequestration language to the county’s zoning ordinance. On Monday, commissioners voted 3-0 to adopt an ordinance adding Article 21 to the local land use guidelines. Montgomery County Building Administrator Marc Bonwell said the purpose of Article 21 is to manage, regulate and administer carbon sequestration sites and surface impacts in the county.
