NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — On Saturday morning, people gathered at Waterside in Norfolk to participate the 19th Annual CHKD Run/Walk for the kids. The event raises money for the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters to continue caring for their patients and expanding their access to treatment. At the event, everyday heroes and movie screen superheroes joined forces to inspire little eyes. “The community is so much fun,” said Chad Simpson from behind his Captain America mask.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Burned and barely breathing. That’s how court documents described 70-year-old Augusta Brown when he showed up to Maryview Hospital in October 2022. Despite being moved to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital’s burn ward, Brown later died. Portsmouth Police started their work to learn how the burns stretching from the bottom of his back to the middle of his thighs got there.

(WAVY) – On April 5, Newport News police responded to a home on Cedar Avenue and found a toddler unconscious on a mattress, with paramedics arriving soon after and pronouncing him dead before medical efforts could be made.
