    Few days after nearly 100 persons lost their lives in tanker accident in Niger State, some youths trooped out to the scene of a tanker accident in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Wednesday. According to witnesses, the youths were scooping fuel from the faulty truck when security operatives arrived at the scene. Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police chased them off the scene at Mile 6 in Jalingo, where the petrol Tanker crashed and spilled its content.

    An  Upper Area Court, sitting in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, has discharged and aquitted  one Ahijo Sulaiman due to the prosecution’s lack of diligence. Presiding  judge, Abubakar Kasim Aliyara,  while delivering judgement said the court observed  that the had suffered prolong  delays and adjournments as a result of failure by the prosecution to  produce sufficient evidence before the court.

    Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in Taraba State, have destroyed several bandits' camps in the state. The troops under operation code-named 'OP Golden Peace' also recovered arms and ammunition after destroying the camps. Spokesman of 6 Army Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, said the operation was conducted by the troops on 28 November 2024 in Takum and Donga local government areas of the state.

    Flood-risk states are bracing for impacts of flooding that may be triggered by the release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon, with officials saying they have put in place measures to protect residents and minimise damage. The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) had issued warnings regarding imminent flooding in Adamawa, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Cross River and Rivers states.

    The federal government yesterday raised the alarm over possible severe flooding beginning from the end of this month, saying 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are likely to be adversely affected. The government also warned that prolonged flooding incidents might escalate the cholera incidents currently ravaging some states.
