The film industry has long taken a particular interest in Las Vegas due to its unique setting. To the west sit beautiful mountains, and to the east lie grassy plains. Just a short drive outside of town are two lakes and a castle. A historic, fully functioning drive-in theater, the Fort Union Drive-In, is open to the public in the warm months.

While Albuquerque and Santa Fe tend to attract more big-budget studio flicks, the 2019 film tax credit changes have expanded production to more rural areas in the Land of Enchantment.
