HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville Police Department said a man is facing an arson charge after a house fire late Wednesday night. Cory Dewayne Horton, 54, was arrested and charged with first-degree arson,According to HPD, officers responded to a house on Yukon Drive just before midnight to help the Huntsville Fire Department with an investigation. Officers said that evidence showed that a fire had been intentionally set outside a bedroom window while the resident was at home.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – A Georgia man was arrested Wednesday after the Scottsboro Police Department said officers found fentanyl and crack cocaine in his vehicle. According to SPD, officers pulled over 63-year-old James Psihogios, of Ackworth, Ga., in the 2100 block of Veterans Drive. SPD said a search of the vehicle uncovered roughly 4.5 grams of a fentanyl mixture, 2.3 grams of crack cocaine, 58 individually wrapped marijuana blunts and one clear glass pipe.

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – A man was arrested Wednesday after witnesses said he attacked and attempted to rob someone, according to police. The Decatur Police Department said officers responded to a robbery call at the Chevron Food Mart on 14th Street SW. When they arrived, they spoke with Chaz Mandale Reed, who the victim said attacked and attempted to rob him. Witnesses identified Reed as the suspect, and he was detained. Detectives arrested Reed and charged him with third-degree robbery.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – Singing River Trail announced the winners of their 2025 Launch Tank Competition on Wednesday. This year’s launch tank was hosted at the Scottsboro Civic Center and featured nine entrepreneurs from across North Alabama competing for $27,000 in non-dilutive funding to help them grow. The finalists presented their small business ideas to an audience and panel of local judges. They were judged on business viability, innovation, and impact on the region.
