BOISE, Idaho — Members of the Ada County Paramedics and the Boise Fire Department had the rare opportunity to meet a patient they revived after he went into cardiac arrest. That patient may be well known to KTVB viewers. It's 19-year-old Jacob Serre of Boise. He's a double heart transplant recipient, a stroke survivor and a former Seven's Hero. A special awards ceremony recently honored the first responders who came to his rescue over a year ago, in February 2024.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Something really special happened at a recent Meridian High School basketball game. The Ida-Homies took center court at halftime to perform with the Warriorettes dance team. Meridian's Brooke Johnson founded the Ida-Homies. "So, the Ida-Homies are a ten man and woman squad of adults with Down syndrome, and we come together once a week and we dance," Johnson said.

The Idaho Lottery created a 'Nominate Your School Hero' program to honor those hard-working people. In honor of the Idaho Lottery's 35th anniversary, the organization is recognizing 35 'School Heroes' across the Gem State in January and February.

EAGLE, Idaho — Eagle Middle School 8th grader Jeremiah San Nicolas is back at school after having major spinal surgery for kyphoscoliosis in Salt Lake City. He and his mom had to leave his four siblings behind and arrived in Utah over Thanksgiving break. "So, there are two parts of the surgery, the first part was the halo which wasn't that bad, and then when the actual spinal fusion came in," Jeremiah said.

BOISE, Idaho — Ornella Kero fled to Idaho as a refugee with her family when she was just a little girl. "I believe we came here in 2012, and we came from Cameroon in Africa," Kero said. She had so much to adapt to at the age of 7. A new country, a new city, a new language and a new school. She said it was all overwhelming. "I learned how to speak English at school in my ESL classes, and from watching a lot of American TV at home," she said.
