Former vice president Al Gore will deliver the keynote speech at San Francisco’s week-long climate summit later this month, organizers announced. The longtime climate advocate and Nobel Peace Prize winner is scheduled to speak on April 21 at the welcome ceremony of SF Climate Week, a climate solutions conference organized by nonprofit Climatebase and held annually around Earth Day. The ceremony will be hosted at the Exploratorium on the Embarcadero.

State Farm General has requested a major rate hike to an insurance program that offers extra liability coverage, which could raise premiums for more than 430,000 policyholders if approved. Sixty-two California grants are on a list of 400 the Environmental Protection Agency has targeted for termination, according to an internal filing obtained by Democratic members of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on Wednesday and reviewed by the Chronicle. If terminated, grantees including several Bay Area nonprofits and local governments could lose access to millions in funding previously authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act, passed by former President Joe Biden.
