Genoa, Ark. -- The Genoa Central Lady Dragons captured a district title. The Lady Dragons hosted the 7-3A district tournament in Genoa last week and were the No. 3 seed in the tournament. The Lady Dragons took down the No. 2 seed and No. 1 seed on their way to the title. In the championship game, Genoa Central faced a Smackover team that went unbeaten in conference play and had not lost in some time. The Lady Dragons snapped Smackover's winning streak with a 4-3 victory.

Competing in the area round of the Class 3A Division II playoffs, Hooks grabbed an early lead in the first game but fell behind against Grand Saline. The 15th-ranked Lady Hornets rallied and picked up an 8-7 win in Winnsboro on Thursday and completed the sweep in Friday's game to win an area title with a 2-0 series win.

Competing in the Division I playoffs of Class 3A, Redwater softball battled Jefferson in a three-game series at Atlanta last week with an area spot on the line. The Lady Dragons entered the postseason as the top District 14-3A seed in the Division I playoffs, and they managed to move on.
