Iowa City Regina volleyball player Nora Wilhelm and Iowa City Liberty football player Collin Decker were voted by readers as the Press-Citizen’s Athletes of the Week for Nov. 4-10. Wilhelm was voted girls Athlete of the Week with a whopping 71% of the vote. Clear Creek Amana volleyball player Bailey Simpson placed second with 22% of the vote. Despite falling to EBF in the Class 2A state volleyball quarterfinal, Wilhelm still led Regina in assists on Nov. 5.

Iowa City West announced Jamie O'Meara as the school's next head baseball coach on Monday. O'Meara spent the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa City West, specializing in pitching and catching. He was also an assistant for six seasons at Fort Dodge High School and coached the University of Iowa Baseball Club, which he founded. “I am deeply honored to be named the head baseball coach at Iowa City West," O'Meara said in a press release.

The Iowa high school state football quarterfinals have arrived. Iowa City High (6-4) and Clear Creek Amana (6-4) were eliminated from state title contention in the first round of action this past week. Regina Catholic (9-1) and Iowa City Liberty (9-1) will host the state quarterfinals while Solon (8-2) and Iowa City West (6-4) will compete in their second consecutive road playoff game.
