The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program is essential. But only $7 billion to build the interstate DC fast charging infrastructure is peanuts. But DC fast charging can become a very lucrative business. With high Capex and high fixed costs, the profits when crossing break-even can be huge. AFAIK no pure-play CPO (Charge Point Operator) is showing a profit. Tesla might be close on the network-operating part of the business. But the costs of extending the network are very large.

Similar kinds of sensational reality twisting recently happened in Norway. The online newspaper «Nettavisen» actively searched for BEV drivers having problems in the cold, hoping to get some negative scoop on Tesla. But it turns out the guy they ended up interviewing wasn’t really disappointed that his BEV stopped working in -50˚C (-58˚F), but impressed: most ICEVs he had experienced conked out at -30˚C:https://elbil-no.translate....

We have all seen the data. When people are asked if their next car will be Electric, the percentage is always a lot higher than current sales %age. As long as Auto Makers keep pumping out new Models at not too exorbitant prices, then these numbers are only going up. see moreExcellent point!! That's one I need to remember and use!see moreAlso, to get the people who don't care about EVs or the environment, we need more chargers.

Hi Steve. I wonder why car companies do not think of making embossed instructions for rental cars, perhaps attached to strategic points in the cars with zip ties or something. Maybe even yellow or orange printed detachable labels, anything. How hard could it be? Just something to explain the starting, gearshift, and charging/filling.
