Since the 1920s, the Hopkins Family has farmed the same plot of land in Havre De Grace, Maryland. The tight-knit bunch enjoys working together, and that hasn’t changed in more than a century. What has changed is the way the Hopkins utilize their land and resources. The farm housed a dairy from 1926 until 2000. Since then, the Hopkins family has produced tomatoes for canning and grain crops like barley, corn, wheat and soybeans.

Dr. Sawyer joined the Lerner College faculty in 1991 as an assistant professor of business administration, becoming an associate professor in 1995 and a full professor in 2002, when he was also given a joint appointment in the Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences. From 2001-6, he chaired the Department of Business Administration. Founding director of the Master of Science Program in Organizational Effectiveness, Development and Change in 2004-5, he directed the program again from 2007-12.

The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware was once again recognized as a top undergraduate business school by Poets&Quants for Undergrads, a leading publication, by placing No. 52 in the 2025 rankings. Lerner College jumped 13 spots from last year, one of just six schools to post double-digit rises from 2024, to rank 52nd out of 104 participating schools.
