WASHINGTON — Most of Louisiana’s congressional delegation remained mute during last week’s whiplash events over tariffs. President Donald Trump paused Wednesday the 10% tariffs he imposed on all countries — plus additional, steeper “reciprocal” tariffs on 60 other nations — just the week before. That excludes China, where he increased the tax on goods imported from that country to 145%; the People’s Republic responded with a 125% tariff on goods imported from America.

WASHINGTON — At a recent town hall in New Orleans, U.S. Rep. Troy Carter was asked why Democrats were doing so little to block the flood of President Donald Trump’s executive orders. Carter replied that with Republicans holding majorities in both chambers of Congress and controlling the White House, Democratic lawmakers could do little except talk loudly and go to court. The courts have been the Democrats' most effective tactic.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy said Tuesday the abrupt resignation of the nation’s chief vaccines regulator did not violate his pact with health chief Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a well-known skeptic of vaccinations. “There’s nothing in that action that violates the commitment I received from Bobby Kennedy,” Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, told local reporters in a phone press conference.
