Logistics technology provider Descartes Systems Group today said it has acquired the transportation management solutions (TMS) software vendor 3GTMS for $115 million. The deal marks Descartes’ 32nd acquisition since 2016. Columbus, Ohio-based 3GTMS said its platform allows shippers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and freight brokers to optimize domestic over-the-road shipments with tools for planning, rating, consolidation, and routing that cover the entire shipment lifecycle.

Ortec surveyed 2,500 logistics, retail, manufacturing, and transportation professionals about their route optimization challenges.

The idea for creating a Supply Chain Hall of Fame originated in 2016 during a CSCMP board meeting. Brian Hancock, who at the time was an executive vice president of the Kansas City Southern Railway, argued that the discipline had sufficiently matured to be worthy of its own Hall of Fame. There were many innovators and leaders in supply chain who deserved to be celebrated and honored, he said, and some innovations deserved more acknowledgement from the general public than they were receiving.
