A woman has been arrested after a number of incidents linked to a batch of suspected contaminated heroin in Hartlepool. Cleveland Police are warning drug users a batch of the substance circulating in the town could be dangerous after a number of people needed treatment. The force says: “While we would not advocate the use of illegal drugs, we would warn drug users that this particular batch circulating in Hartlepool could be dangerous.

A disqualified driver high on cannabis collided with a car carrying two women and a baby while trying to escape police. Riley Smithson, 23, sped away from police in Hartlepool in a suspected stolen Ford Fiesta with cloned plates on the morning of March 3 this year. During a shocking piece of driving, Teesside Crown Court heard he accelerated up to 50mph along Southburn Terrace before mounting the pavement to avoid an oncoming vehicle.
