David Burley, the co-founder of the restaurant business behind some of the Twin Cities' best-known restaurants, has died.

The maker of Cheerios and baking mixes reported below-expected sales for its fiscal third quarter, citing continued economic uncertainty among consumers. It did beat Wall Street expectations on earnings, however. General Mills Inc. on Wednesday reported lower-than-expected sales for its third fiscal quarter and said organic net sales would fall for its current year as economic worries prompt consumers to cut back on spending.

Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) is taking steps to bolster its grocery business, looking to control more distribution of a key sector as the retailer looks to grow overall sales by more than $15 billion in the coming years.
