The maker of Cheerios and baking mixes reported below-expected sales for its fiscal third quarter, citing continued economic uncertainty among consumers. It did beat Wall Street expectations on earnings, however. General Mills Inc. on Wednesday reported lower-than-expected sales for its third fiscal quarter and said organic net sales would fall for its current year as economic worries prompt consumers to cut back on spending.
