    WEST BLOOMFIELD — Some residents have been expressing concerns about whether or not items that they put out to be recycled are going where they are supposed to be. Multiple residents recently shared those concerns via nextdoor.com, which is a social networking service for neighborhoods. According to one user, they contacted the township because they saw a GFL truck dumping the contents of the recycle bin into a regular, back-loading garbage truck with the hydraulic compactor.

    FARMINGTON — Officials in Farmington may be walking around with an extra spring in their step these days as the city has some closure on a long-anticipated project. After being vacant for approximately 12 years, the Maxfield Training Center, located at 33000 Thomas St. in the city’s downtown, was purchased by Robertson Brothers May 17 at a price of $690,000.

    A man who reportedly shot and killed his younger brother was taken into custody May 26. At approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, the Farmington Hills Police Department responded to a report that a man had shot his younger brother in the 33000 block of Saratoga Circle, located near 11 Mile and Halsted roads. According to a press release, a mother called 911 to report that her sons were involved in an argument, which led to her 30-year-old son shooting her 28-year-old son.

    WEST BLOOMFIELD — Families Against Narcotics, a Macomb County-based nonprofit, and the West Bloomfield Fire Department have teamed up on an initiative to help individuals struggling with substance use disorder. Hope and Healing is a hospital- and fire-and-rescue-based version of FAN’s flagship Hope Not Handcuffs program, which has connected people to addiction treatment more than 11,600 times since its launch in 2017, according to a press release.
