This year’s New York state budget won’t include $35 million initially set aside by lawmakers to begin rebuilding the Central New York Regional Market in Syracuse. The final budget agreement reached between Gov. Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers left out funding for the first phase of the project, said Assembly member Bill Magnarelli.

State budget bills due to be introduced today include $30 million to upgrade the New York State Fair’s two existing concert venues and improve the acoustics at the sprawling Expo Center. The improvements will be paid for as part of a $35 million capital projects fund for the State Fair that includes $5 million for general maintenance and repair work, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office.

U.S. Rep. John Mannion on Monday plans to host his first town hall meeting since taking office in January. Mannion, D-Geddes, said he will provide updates about his work in the House of Representatives and answer questions from 22nd Congressional District residents. The meeting will be 6 p.m. May 12 in the town of Salina. Mannion’s office declined to disclose the exact location in advance.

A final state budget agreement reached today includes more than $100 million to help Onondaga County expand its water supply to serve Micron Technology and related growth in the county, according to two state lawmakers. The funding – between $110 million and $119 million – is expected to be included in a final budget bill Wednesday, said state Assembly member Bill Magnarelli, D-Syracuse, and state Sen. Chris Ryan, D-Geddes.

A final state budget deal between Gov. Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers will include $450 million for a new emergency department and annex at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. A spokesperson for State Sen. Chris Ryan, D-Geddes, told syracuse.com the funding will be included in budget bills due to be made public later today or Wednesday. Three other legislative sources confirmed the agreement.
