Carolyn C. Cason, 78, of Prattville was fatally injured when a 2023 Lincoln Aviator she was driving collided head-on with a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Alyssa M. Taylor, 30, of Selma, who was also fatally injured. After the initial collision, both vehicles left the roadway and became engulfed in flames.

Montgomery police officer facing child sex charge

The Montgomery Police Department has charged an officer with electronic solicitation of a child, the department said. Nicholas Zachary, 22, was charged April 10, said Sgt. Ernestina McGriff, MPD spokeswoman. On March 27, the department launched an investigation and placed Zachary on administrative leave after becoming aware of the criminal allegations. Zachary, who joined MPD in 2024, was assigned to the Training and Career Development Bureau. He has been relieved of his duties, McGriff said.
