ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Pet of the Week is a big boy with an even bigger heart. Meet Calvin! He’s a 1-year-old German Shepherd, Husky Siberian mix, who’s neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and is looking for his forever family. Stephanie Hill, the President of the Board of Directors at the Animal Shelter Society, says sadly Calvin had to be surrendered to them because his previous owners were moving.

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local Fire Department is inviting the community to come out for a nice meal. The Washington Fire Department is hosting their 57th Mother’s Day Chicken BBQ on Sunday, May 11th, from 11AM until they sell out. Chief of the Washington Fire Department, Gene Hanning, said the menu consists of ½ a chicken, cole slaw, applesauce, roll with butter, chips, and a dessert.

ZANESVILLE, OH – Ohio University Zanesville is gearing up for a day full of fun and learning opportunities. OUZ’s annual HEAT Camp is coming up on June 4th from 8AM to 5PM. Heather Sands, the Manager of Campus Communications and External Relations with OUZ, says this camp is for incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders interested in entering a healthcare field. “A lot of people think, it’s just about nursing, not just about nursing anymore.” Sands said.

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners recently met to discuss some much needed improvements to the Muskingum County Courthouse. The Commissioners met on Monday to hear about 3 possible bids to replace windows on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Courthouse. Jeremy Davis, an Architect with AGP Architects, says the current windows are about 20 years old and aren’t as energy efficient as they once were. “The estimate was about $480,000 and I believe our lowest bid was $374,000.” Davis said.
