After having a kidney transplant that led to a series of strokes, Ron Wilderman thought there were things he’d never do again. His handwriting would never be the same, holding utensils steady while eating was impossible, and he had trouble walking without assistance.

Now that the school year is back in swing, the Twiggs County Public Schools Wellness Center is open for business again for the 2024-25 academic year. The center, which has received nearly $1 million in grant funding, serves the students, faculty and staff of Twiggs public schools in addition to their families. No health insurance is required, and Medicare and Medicaid are accepted.
