    AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police responded to two separate SWAT situations overnight. At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police got a call from a woman on East Stassney Lane who said her boyfriend had assaulted her. Officers arrived at the scene a few minutes later and found a man had barricaded himself inside an apartment with a gun. SWAT officers were called in to assist. At around 2:45 a.m. Thursday, SWAT officers entered the apartment and found the man dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

    AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department said a woman is in the hospital after she was shot at a northeast Austin apartment complex. The shooting happened at the Casa Hills Apartments @ 290 on Regan Hill Drive, near Berkman Drive, in the St. Johns neighborhood. Police say the woman was shot inside an apartment, but officers did not provide details on the extent of the woman's injuries.

    AUSTIN, Texas — A man and his dog escaped a house fire in southeast Austin early Thursday morning. At around 2:25 a.m., firefighters with the Austin Fire Department (AFD) responded to multiple calls about a house fire on Bucks Run, just south of William Cannon Road. When firefighters arrived at the house, they saw flames coming through the roof, walls, windows and doors.

    TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is working to increase the reliability and resilience of transmission lines in North Travis County. Construction has started to "storm harden" 14 miles of high voltage transmission lines. That means upgrading the lines to better withstand extreme weather conditions like wind and ice. The upgraded lines can also reduce outages and lower restoration times and costs.
