    Gaithersburg Book Festival Workshops, Children’s Authors Announced The 16th Gaithersburg Book Festival is just a month away. The free, day-long event on Saturday, May 17 at Bohrer Park features award-winning authors, workshops, a poetry contest, and a “Children’s Village,” which is the area of the festival dedicated to kids and teens.     Maryland legislators approved a new law named for a Montgomery County police officer who lost both of his legs after a driver intentionally struck him at a speed of more than 100 mph. The Sgt. Patrick Kepp Act passed during the recently-concluded General Assembly session. The new law imposes harsher penalties for reckless drivers. It includes the potential for up to 60 days in jail for going 30 mph above the speed limit.
