May 18-Harry Truman became a modern folk hero 45 years ago for his steadfast refusal to leave his lodge in the shadow of Mount St. Helens, even as experts warned that the volcano in southwestern Washington might erupt. Reporters covering the rumbling mountain in the spring of 1980 often turned their attention to Truman, describing the 83-year-old business owner and former bootlegger as gruff, stubborn, funny and, above all, fiercely independent.

Mike Dawson, who graduated from Lewiston High in 2000 and the University of Idaho in 2005, will be on the long-running TV quiz show Friday. In the Inland Northwest, the episode will air at 7 p.m. on KHQ, an NBC affiliate in Spokane.

Mar. 20—When driving north or south through Idaho on the only route available, U.S. Highway 95, who out there has cranked the wheel and slipped onto one of the bypass roads that cuts out the elbow of the highway that nudges into Grangeville? The NAIA World Series is nearing its culmination. Will LSU Shreveport complete their unbeaten march through the season? Or will Southeastern pull off a stunner? Stay tuned, folks!

Here is Friday's Series Extra cover. LSU Shreveport now has the longest winning streak in college baseball history. But the Pilots don't have an NAIA championship ... yet. They'll try to remedy that Friday evening against Southeastern. Our coverage: https://t.co/dD6J8v6h2p https://t.co/4J0k00YD2Z

Here's a "Fire" pun we haven't used in a headline in all of the years Southeastern has been coming to the NAIA World Series. ... at least I don't remember using it before.

Here is the cover of Wednesday's Series Extra section. Southeastern found a way to cool Georgia Gwinnett, Hope International rallied to stay alive and Tennessee Wesleyan responded with a strong performance. Read all of our coverage at https://t.co/dD6J8v6ORX https://t.co/0uY78X6gmb
