    AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — 8News spoke with Conexus as well as several local optometrists this week as they worked together to provide eye care for rural communities in need. Thanks to donations from community members, Conexus has continued to expand its footprint, as they are now working with schools in Amelia County, Prince Edward County and Farmville. Conexus goes into local schools day in and day out, providing eye screenings, eye exams and glasses to students when needed.

While virtually all of North America is in the visibility zone, Central Virginians woke up on Thursday, March 13, to rather cloudy conditions. It’s these conditions that had us wondering if locals would actually be able to see the lunar eclipse.     RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A powerful winter storm is set to hit Central Virginia Wednesday into Thursday. The timing of this is such that the snow will begin as early as 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning and pick up in intensity throughout the day and into Thursday morning. At this point, it looks like the snow will come to an end between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday morning and we should get some sunshine later in the day.

(WRIC) — A powerful winter storm is hitting the Gulf Coast states today and it is bringing unprecedented snow to many areas right along the extreme southern coast of the United States. Some places are receiving snow that haven’t seen it in nearly half a century. This system will be heading our way later this evening and tonight and could bring snow to some places in Central Virginia.
