RENDON, Texas — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has given initial approval to plans for a concrete batch plant near Rendon in unincorporated Tarrant County. In a letter to neighbors, the TCEQ said J7 Ready Mix's permit application "meets the requirements of applicable law." However, construction cannot yet begin. Neighbors who oppose the plant's construction have one more opportunity to sway state regulators in their favor.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth City Council agreed Tuesday to provide tax incentives for a developer planning to construct a five-building data center near Saginaw. The deal will effectively reduce ACS Group's tax liability for 10 years. In exchange, the company promises to invest $2.1 billion in the property and employ 37 people. City officials expect to recoup the tax break over time, anticipating the data center will generate about $58 million in new tax revenue.

The Fort Worth store is an Asian market, importing about 90% of the items on its shelves. The shop's produce, including fresh vegetables, comes from the United States. Though the items are hard to find elsewhere, owner Seng Raw Tsumhpawng said customers come for the experience.
