(Mike) McCoshen has been sworn in as the twelfth Administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (GLS). GLS is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the U.S. portion of the St. Lawrence Seaway between Montréal and Lake Erie. It’s goal is to increase maritime trade and economic development throughout the Great Lakes region.

MINNESOTA — Tuesday morning governor Tim Walz announced Melissa and Mark Hortman will lie in state Friday, in Saint Paul. They will be joined by their golden retriever, Gilbert. They were assassinated in their home two weekends ago. Hortman will be the first woman and one of fewer than 20 Minnesotans to lie in state in the capitol. The rotunda will be open for the public to pay their respects from noon to 5. A private funeral will take place, Saturday.

DULUTH, Minn. – Two crashes. Two flipped vehicles in Duluth. They both happened mid-day on June 24, 2025. The first crash happened in the parking lot of the Center for American Indian Resources on W 4th Street. Duluth Police tell FOX21 an SUV crashed and rolled into the parking lot. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Initial investigations shows the vehicle’s breaks went out, causing the vehicle to crash and roll.

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has announced an inmate has died in their custody. The inmate was discovered unresponsive in their cell. At 9:35 AM on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 jailers called 911 for medial assistance. Life saving measures were immediately taken by jail staff and later by first responders. Those attempts were unsuccessful, and the inmate was declared deceased. The cause of death is unknown.

DULUTH, Minn. – Aspirus St. Luke’s released a statement following Minnesota Nurses Association announcing the union had authorized a strike. They have not declared a strike, but the vote authorizes leadership to trigger a strike if they wish. The statement reads:Unfortunately, it appears that the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) has authorization to call a strike against Aspirus St. Luke’s (ASL), Essentia Health and many metro hospitals.
