VERO BEACH, Fla. — Crews are battling a brush fire in Vero Beach, which has led to three homes being forced to evacuate. According to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, they received calls after 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Two small fires merged into a larger fire, shutting down 58th Avenue between 65th and 69th streets. No structures have been damaged and no injuries have been reported.

Michelle Watkins defeated incumbent Huntsville City Council Member, Devyn Keith, to win the District One seat Tuesday. The current Huntsville City Schools Board of Education member defeated him by winning 54% of the vote compared to Keith's 46%. This after Watkins and Keith did not meet the 50% threshold during August's municipal election. Keith served eight years on the council before running into trouble with the law when he was arrested for shoplifting at multiple Walmart's last year.

Two men face charges after a shooting in Eva on Friday night. 42-year-old Daniel Nelson and 36-year-old Joseph Nelson were both charged with shooting/throwing into an occupied vehicle and domestic violence. Both men were booked on $10,000 bonds each. This after 72-year-old Sammy Nelson was arrested Friday. He was booked on a $150,000 bond. The person was shot in the ear and was taken to Huntsville Hospital. They are in stable condition.

A Fort Payne City Schools middle schooler was arrested after accusations of making threats towards students. Fort Payne Police arrested the student Monday afternoon. According to the school system, there is no active threat towards the school. The student will be disciplined significantly in alignment with the school's code of conduct.

UPDATE: Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn identified the body as belonging to 35-year-old Kody Martin of Cullman. Chunn said Martin was in a car accident in the area in late May and likely wandered from his car before dying in the woods. FROM EARLIER:The Morgan County Sheriff's Office said they have found a missing person's body in the Cole Spring Area off of Highway 55.
