Before Salford’s defeat to St Helens on Sunday, reports emerged that the Australian had refused to play for the Red Devils and that he was on the verge of a move to The Wire. Rowley confirmed post-match that Stone had opted against turning out for his side and hit out at the way in which the 27-year-old handled the situation.

Nyland, who now rows for the famed Leander Club having been developed by Warrington Rowing Club, is part of the Great Britain squad for the upcoming World Rowing Cup event in Lucerne, Switzerland, over the weekend of June 27-29.
