A man in his 30s has died after being struck by a car on the M6 in Lancashire. Police were called to the scene between junctions 33 and 34, near Lancaster, at around 11pm last night (Saturday, May 31). The collision involved a pedestrian aged in his 30s and a Audi Q7 travelling north between Forton Services and Lancaster. Lancashire Police said the man sadly died at the scene. The carriageway was closed until the early hours of this morning (Sunday, June 1).

Blackpool magician Harry Moulding was crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2025 last night. The illusionist fell to his knees with joy as presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly declared him champion. Harry scooped £250,000 and a spot in the Royal Variety Performance after winning the public vote during Saturday’s live show. Moulding, 24, wowed the judges with his card trick act which featured a video of him skydiving out of a plane.

Police investigating a suspicious death in Oldham have arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Greater Manchester Police were called to a property on Eldon Street at 7.50pm on Wednesday (May 28) after a 50-year-old man was found deceased. His family have been informed and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Three major national retailers have opened new stores at Botany Bay Business Park in Chorley. Greggs, Costa Coffee and Central Co-op have moved onto the 21-acre industrial and logistics site, near the M61, this month. Owners and developers FI Real Estate Management said it's "fantastic" to see the next phase of the £220million business park "come to life". Local timber merchants James Donaldson Timber have also moved onto the site after signing a lease for 110,000 sq ft of industrial space.

Sheridan Smith will join film crews in Lancashire to shoot scenes for a new BBC drama. Gritty BBC drama 'The Cage’ is set and mostly filmed in Liverpool, but some scenes are to be filmed around Tockholes, near Darwen, next week. Filming is scheduled to take place in Tockholes Road over two days - Thursday and Friday (June 5 and 6) - with the road to be closed between The Royal Arms pub and Belmont Road (A675).
