HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Alabama state park rangers said summer is easily the busiest time of year for visitors and activities. The state offers 21 parks total, including six in North Alabama. HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The University of Alabama in Huntsville recently launched a program to encourage post-grad students. The Charger EDGE (Education Discount for Graduate Excellence) program offers a 25 percent tuition discount to graduate and master’s students. The program has a few limitations for enrollees. Students have to be in-state or from select counties in Tennessee (Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marshall, Moore and Marion).

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - A well-known Decatur museum is getting a big boost from the state so it can expand programs. Thanks to a $9.5 million grant, the Cook Museum of Natural Science is now designated as North Alabama’s STEM center. That money comes from the state’s education budget with a goal of designating these STEM centers statewide. In the few years since its opening, leaders estimate around 18,000 students have visited the Cook Museum, and 7,000 have participated in their camps.

MARSHALL CO., Ala. (WAFF) - Officials with the Tennessee Valley Authority warned the public of the annual return of an invasive species of eelgrass in the Guntersville Reservoir. According to TVA’s Aquatic Plant Management Program Director Stephen Turner, the plant is not native to the area. He said it grows quickly and in thick patches at the top of the water, Turner said while it’s in the lake year-round, its peak growth is in the warmer months of the year.

RT @trashpandas: Hey Alabama fans: Don’t worry, Trash Pandas baseball starts in 117 days.

He’s literally tossing to a top five matchup? How does that disrespect the game he literally just covered? What are we doing here?

Joe Tessitore just couldn't help himself in the transition from #Big12FB Championship to the SEC title game: "So there's a champion here but we've got the *heavy weight* clash to determine a Champion in the SEC!" At least sound like you respect the game you're covering. 🙄 https://t.co/gysB5YbMuD

Bob is truly one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. He gave me an interview over Zoom during COVID and was nothing but inspiring and professional to a young journalist like myself. He will be missed on the call for the Vols.

After a decorated career spanning more than five decades — including a 25-year run as the Voice of the Vols — Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Kesling has announced he will retire following the 2024-25 men’s basketball season.
