WAMEGO (KSNT) – State transportation officials say an upcoming railroad crossing repair project in Wamego will result in traffic disruptions at the local level and a big detour for some. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced on KanDrive that work crews are getting ready to start the repair project at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 31 and wrap it up by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3.

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Washburn University is getting ready to “break glass” on a major renovation project that will transform the look of a more than 50-year-old building. Washburn University will hold a transformation ceremony from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 to help kick off the expansive renovation work planned for the old Henderson Learning Resource Center. The building will get an extensive overhaul and be renamed to Advisors Excel Hall over the course of this project.

Lake Shawnee is regularly impacted by blue-green algae alerts which sometimes result in the closure of recreational water activities and its swimming beach to protect people from the budding hazard.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) reports on KanDrive that I-70 was closed both east and westbound in the area of Grandview Plaza due to a crash on May 26. This crash was in the same area as major ongoing construction work.
