PUNXSUTAWNEY — On Tuesday — Patriots Day, a commemoration of “the shot heard ‘round the world” that started the Revolutionary War 250 years ago — opponents of the Donald Trump administration staged protests across the country. That included the Jefferson County Democratic Committee, which brought a group of approximately 30 people to Barclay Square in the afternoon during a sunny break between bouts of rain that struck elsewhere in the area.

The grounds were packed with Phil’s Phaithful braving the chilly night for a glimpse of the Seer of Seers and Prognosticator of Prognosticators.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Phil’s new home at Gobbler’s Knob is nearly complete — and will be christened the Bill Deeley Groundhog Zoo, the Groundhog Club Inner Circle announced at the annual banquet on Saturday. President Tom Dunkel said Deeley — himself a former president of the club — and family made a generous donation to the project.
