The encampment began on 1 May with seven activists and has since grown in number with numerous tents spanning the grassy area opposite the Indoor Sport Centre.

The AMM occurs every year as an opportunity to pass policy and hold SU officers to account. Motions which pass become active SU policies for 3 years.

By Milan Perera, Deputy Editor As part of the Black History Month celebrations, the legendary reggae artist Troy Ellis was invited for an in-depth discussion on the origins of reggae music and an intimate performance at the Anson Rooms Bar on Saturday, October 7. The event was organised by the Black Students’ Network (BSN) among other events to mark Black History Month. The proceedings for the evening were led by Madu Ellis of Ujima Radio, who introduced Troy Ellis to the audience.

The student sprayed the glass building with orange paint using a fire extinguisher.

By Lottie Leigh, News ReporterThis autumn, the season of apple picking, Bristol University wants students to donate apples which will then be turned into a free drink of either fresh apple juice or cider. The event will take place on Sunday the 8th of October from 11am to 3pm where donations can be graciously received by the University for free access to the University of Bristol Botanical gardens for the day.

Although the last open day to be held until term starts, it certainly was not one to forget and that is not just because of the scorching temperature! The occasion was even noticeable to the general public with Tyndall Avenue, Woodland Road and Priory Road closed off.

By Amelia Shaw, News Deputy Editor and Will Standring, News EditorAfter months of uncertainty, the Marking and Assessment Boycott (MAB) has been suspended. The University and College Union (UCU) have notified there will be five more days of strike action. On the 6th September, UCU announced that 60% of its members voted in favour of calling off the strikes after several months of collective action. The MAB had a previous mandate from union members to continue until 30th September.
