Young mother faces being homeless within the month

A MOTHER in temporary woman’s refuge accommodation is facing homelessness in a month due to the dire lack of available places to live. Niamh Ryan (30) has a four-year-old daughter Ailbhe and has been staying at accommodation in Tallaght for the last three months. However, the temporary arrangement ends on June 2 and despite looking everywhere for a place, Niamh has been unable to find anything, such is the disastrous state of housing accommodation in the country.
Work continues at Leisure Centre despite challenges

WORK continues at Lucan Leisure Campus which includes the long-awaited swimming pool for the area. Earlier this year, South Dublin County Council acknowledged that completion of the project continued to be “challenging”, primarily due to contractor resources and sub-contractor availability. While there is still no definitive opening date for the pool, more personnel are active on site recently following “revised project arrangements” according to SDCC.

A PLANNING application submitted in 2022 for over 300 apartments at the former ABB site in Tallaght has been rejected by An Board Pleanála who cited the proposed height and unit mix as contrary to proper planning and sustainable development for the area.
