PLANS for a Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) at a 1.17 hectare site at Belgard Square East, Tallaght, has been submitted to South Dublin County Council. Applicant Thornton O’Connor Town Planning submitted the LRD proposal, which contains proposals for over 200 apartments, 58 car parking spaces, and mixed retail units at ground floor level.

A CELEBRATION Mass took place in Neilstown on Sunday to honour ‘Sister Reebok’ as Sr Carmel Earls is affectionately known. Sr Carmel (89) is a much-loved stalwart in the Neilstown community, where she has worked for the last 34 years. The mass at St Peter Apostle Church in Neilstown celebrated Sr Carmel’s 70 years in the profession – a diamond jubilee. Neilstown resident Marian Reilly, said: “It was a brilliant day that turned out well. Sr Carmel’s family all came up from Wicklow.
Parents plea for special needs schools to cater for demand

PLANS for eight new schools in the Clonburris Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) are welcomed but parents are looking for a special needs school to cater for demand and reduce commute times for vulnerable kids. The lack of school places for special needs children in the wider Clondalkin and Lucan area has long been a concern for families in the community. Plans for new primary and secondary schools were presented to councillors at a recent briefing on the Clonburris and Adamstown SDZ’s.

THE first ever walk for autism in Ballyfermot was a resounding success with up to 200 people attending and enjoying a fantastic sun kissed morning in People’s Park. It was an event organised by NeuroVibe Tribe and D10 Autism Friendly Town – a voluntary group of parents who advocate for the children with additional needs in Ballyfermot and the wider community.

A NEW primary health care centre in Clondalkin opened last year but has “unacceptable” levels of vacancies, according to Dublin Mid-West TD, Mark Ward (SF). DRONE delivery company Manna has raised a further €27.9m in funding, bringing the toral raised to €55.8m. The round was led by Tapestry VC and Molten Ventures, with participation from Coca-Cola, Dynama Venture and others. Founded by Bobby Healy in 2018, the company’s drones deliver small packages of takeaway food, coffee, medicines and other items for a fee of €5 per delivery, and have made more than 150,000 drone deliveries since it began testing the service.
