A MAN who stole a car which led to the death of its owner in 2022, was sentenced to an additional six months imprisonment for attempted burglary. Adam Murphy (23), Cherry Orchard Crescent, Ballyfermot, is currently serving a nine year and six month sentence, after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Ian McDonnell on 23 January 2022. At Blanchardstown District Court on Monday, June 16, Garda Andrew Flood read out the charges.

THE Louis Fitzgerald hospitality group is in a “strong financial position” according to their latest accounts. Operating profits by the group’s holding company Burtse Ltd, increased last year by 22 per cent to €20.19 million. New accounts filed by Burtse Ltd, show that the business’s operating profits rose as revenues increased by 3.3 per cent, from €80.84m to €83.48m, in the 12 months to the end of June 2024.

SPECIALIST tech distributor Climb Channel Solutions Ireland has opened a new HQ in South County Business Park. The firm, which was previously known as DataSolutions, still operates its Nangor Road Business Park premises, as it continues to grow. The new HQ is part of a wider plan by the group to expand into Europe with plans to build a presence in the Asia-Pacific market in the future. The move follows on from a strong first quarter for Climb Global Solutions.

Concerns have been raised by numerous local representatives regarding data centres and their growing energy consumption and environmental impact. Data centres currently consume one fifth of Ireland’s electricity and are projected to use one-third in the next few years.
