With the 2025 NHL off-season looming, the San Jose Sharks will be players in some of the league’s top unrestricted free agents. Sharks GM Mike Grier says he’ll be active this summer, but will do his best not to overspend. Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser could be a good fit for San Jose. In Daily Faceoff’s latest list of the top 50 free agents, Boeser checks in at No. 2. The 28-year-old forward has spent his entire eight-year career with the Canucks and has been a top producer for them.

Four San Jose Sharks forwards went to play for their country at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, and all have had great starts. San Jose Sharks rookie Will Smith was touted as one of the best passers of his 2023 NHL Draft class. The center turned winger is showing off his patience with the puck on the bigger ice. Smith had a secondary assist in USA’s 5-0 opening game and added two more against Hungary on Sunday.

San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini made his Team Canada senior team debut at the 2025 IIHF World Championship on Saturday. The 2024 No. 1 pick has worked with Pittsburgh Penguins legend and hockey idol Sidney Crosby. Celebrini got to do what he’s been waiting to do his whole life: play on the same team with Crosby. Celebrini was also moved to the wing, as Crosby is his centerman.

San Jose Sharks prospect Danil Gushchin enters the 2025 off-season as a restricted free agent. The 23-year-old is coming off another successful season with the San Jose Barracuda. Guschin made the Sharks roster out of training camp, but spent most of the season in the AHL. In 56 games, Guschin had 28 goals and 23 assists. Gushchin scored the game-winning goal in overtime during the Barracuda’s second-round playoff series.
