    Nearly six months into 2025 and Carroll County State's Attorney Haven Shoemaker says the number of juvenile cases coming across his desk are showing no signs of slowing down. "In 2024 it was 96 or something like that," he said. "We're on pace this year to come pretty close to matching that so there hasn't been a decline since November 1."That's when the new juvenile crime laws went into effect, aiming to better hold young people accountable. Shoemaker says the impact has been dismal.

    Governor Wes Moore says he's focused on Maryland, touting a tax cut for middle class families during a Sunday appearance on CNN. "We just provided middle class families a tax cut that 94% of Maryland families are either going to get a tax cut or see no changes in their taxes at all," said Governor Wes Moore. Amid a $3.3 billion dollar budget shortfall, members of Maryland's House Freedom Caucus, Delegate Kathy Szeliga and Delegate Ryan Nawrocki say middle class families aren't really winning.

    The Ulman House in Baltimore opened in 2019 to provide free, accessible, and age-appropriate housing for young adults and their caregivers as they battle cancer. "It's a really special place. Inside it's a place of love, and hope, and warmth for folks that need it more than others," said Brock Yetso. The Ulman House is for young adults from ages 15 through 39. The house features eight guest rooms and all the other comforts of home including a gym, music room, and even a basketball court.
