A 6-year-old boy was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a Southwest Baltimore home, Police Commissioner Richard Worley said Saturday. Police responded to the 800 block of Vine Street after receiving a call around 2:45 p.m. regarding a shooting. There, they found the boy alone inside the home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. Worley said it was too early to tell who shot the boy or whether the fatal wound was self-inflicted.

Months after finding close-to-perfect child care for her daughter with special needs, Jessalyn Schwartz is about to lose it again. Her 3-year-old, who has severe mobility delays and uses a walker,“ has grown exponentially in the last four months, and it’s because every teacher knows who [she] is,” said Schwartz. Her child attends Sunny Days, an early-learning program in Riverdale. In August, it’s expected to be effectively shut down by the federal government.

New Village Academy promised to do high school differently. But now it won’t be educating kids at all. Four months ahead of its planned opening at Annapolis Mall this fall, the nontraditional high school’s governing board voted to end its efforts to welcome students, according to a Friday news release.
