Nevada is a step closer to swearing off a biannual clock change after a bill to exempt the state from daylight saving time passed through part of the Legislature. Assembly Bill 81, also called “the Lock the Clock Act,” would put the Silver State on standard time year-round beginning in January 2026. In other words, if the bill becomes law, November would be the last time Nevadans change their clocks according to daylight saving time practices.

An effort to legalize medical aid in dying for terminally ill people has passed a crucial vote Thursday despite Gov. Joe Lombardo’s threat to veto the measure. Assembly Bill 346 would create a legal framework for competent and willing terminally ill patients to self-administer life-ending medicines. It passed in the Assembly on Thursday, 23-19.

The effort to get “Reba’s Law” on the books in Nevada is once again on the table after the animal cruelty bill was revived past Friday’s deadline. The bill, named after an English bulldog left taped in a plastic tote bin during a summer heat wave, aimed to strengthen penalties for animal abuse. Assembly Bill 381, introduced by Assembly member Melissa Hardy, R-Henderson, had its first hearing on March 19.

Nevada canceled more than 162,000 voter registrations and inactivated almost 38,000 others in a post-general election voter roll cleanup, the Secretary of State's office reported Monday. "The Secretary of State's Office takes the transparency, security and accessibility of our elections very seriously, and is focused on supporting the counties' efforts to clean the voter rolls," Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar said in a press release on Monday.
