After the eighth count, the Sinn Fein councillor is 183 votes ahead of the Fianna Fail Senator, with Senator Wall a further 379 behind O'Loughlin. Melissa Byrne (Aontu) is now eliminated and her 2,380 votes are being distributed. Martin Heydon is already secure and will win the first seat. Here is the result of the eighth count.

A SHOCKING total of 2,164 cases of domestic abuse were reported last year in Co Kildare, and this shows no sign of improvement given that 620 cases were reported in the first quarter of 2024.
