The traditions of raising a beer stein, holiday sing-a-longs and celebrating Oktoberfest will continue as third-generation owners of Detroit's Dakota Inn Rathskeller pass the keys to new ownership. Owner Karl Kurz, whose family founded the German bar and restaurant in 1933, has sold the restaurant to Paddy Lynch, according to a media alert sent out Friday morning. A funeral director, Lynch has revived other iconic Detroit businesses, including the Schvitz health club and Dutch Girl Donuts.

A longstanding sports bar chain known for chicken wings and scantily uniformed female servers has closed its last remaining Metro Detroit location. The Taylor Hooters at 21250 Eureka Road has closed permanently, according to a phone recording. The only remaining Michigan location is in Saginaw at 5528 Bay Road, and is open daily for lunch and dinner. Established in 1983, the chain filed for bankruptcy in April, Reuters reported, but it vowed to continue.
