As downtown Baltimore sees a shift in its hotel landscape, one historic property is up for grabs. A small Mt. Vernon hotel has hit the market for $1.99 million, just as many of downtown Baltimore's hospitality hotspots are converting to apartments. Midtown Inn is up for sale at 723 St. Paul St. after a recent renovation that gave its 20 rooms a bold, new look. The historic four-story building first opened in 1850 and has served as a small city hotel for decades.

A portfolio of 24 apartment units in Mt. Vernon are headed to auction this month — the latest change for the historic neighborhood, which has recently seen restaurants close and apartment and office buildings change hands. The apartments are owned by entities of Delancey Street Capital, a real estate investment group headed by Daniel Kline that is shedding most of its holdings in Greater Baltimore after Kline's move to New England.

The Maryland State Archives will soon charge a fee to view records in a public database used by realtors, brokers, auctioneers and other companies. A new state fee to gain access to public land records and deeds is drawing backlash from regular users who say costs will be passed on to consumers and property owners.

The buildings will go on the market as part of a court-ordered receivership. Three office towers in Hunt Valley are poised to hit the market next week in a short sale brought on by a high vacancy rate at the complex. Bids for the properties at 4, 6, and 10 N. Park Drive off Shawan Road will open next week, said Gerry Trainor, executive vice president for Transwestern's Mid-Atlantic Capital Markets Group in Washington, D.C., which is handling the sale.
