As the post-holiday winter gloom sets in and the “once in a blue moon” snow has melted, many students are feeling — or continuing to feel — the effects of seasonal depression or seasonal affective disorder. The Tiger reached out to Anna Baker, a licensed clinical psychologist and professor of abnormal and health psychology at Clemson University, in order to gain more insight into the disorder and its repercussions for students.

All creatives will understand the nervous but excited butterflies that settle into your stomach at the prospect of sharing something into which you’ve put so much time and effort. For some of Clemson’s world cinema students, the time had come to do just that. This past Thursday, students and audience members crowded the McKissick Theatre to see a selection of student films.

I watch a lot of movies and TV. No, seriously, a lot. And a lot of times, I enjoy things that may be geared toward kids but still have plotlines adults can enjoy. While I may be able to walk in and see the goriest R-rated movie in any theater I want, I genuinely seek out meaningful pieces of media, which often come in the form of movies made for younger audiences.

In a career full of successful years, 2024 has been one of Kendrick Lamar’s best. He dominated the charts and the cultural conversation with smash-hit Drake diss tracks including “euphoria” and “Not Like Us,” then bagged the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show gig. Not content with just these feats, though, Lamar surprise dropped a brand new album, “GNX,” on Nov. 22. There was no fanfare and no buildup — Lamar’s record label didn’t even know about the project until the morning it dropped.

When I think of game day at Clemson, the first thing that comes to mind is an array of vivid orange and purple tents spread across the many lawns on campus. As I close my eyes and transport myself there, I can smell all the foods being grilled that will fuel the ceaseless cheering of our beloved “C-L-E-M-S-O-N!”Anyone who has experienced a game day in Tigertown has probably seen how the fans all band together, and the boundaries of tailgate spots seem less and less defined.

The race for the presidency of the United States between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump was decided around 5 a.m. on Nov. 6. For as many people who were asleep for it, there was an equal number of those who had bloodshot eyes glued to a TV, laptop or phone screen. The election of Trump as the 47th President of the United States will leave a mark on the country and usher in a new era of the presidency. But what does this mean for students?

The U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the entire world, with nearly two million incarcerated people. And yet, for most Americans, prisoners and their daily lives are, at most, an afterthought. Professor Nancy Paxton-Wilson wants to change that. Paxton-Wilson started working with prisoners when she was a Ph.D. student at Georgia State University. She was an English tutor and picked up a tutoring assignment for those incarcerated at Phillips State Prison.

As students at universities across the country continue expressing their opinions regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas through sit-ins, marches and protests, a group of Clemson students came together on Bowman Field on Oct. 18 to protest for Israel to ceasefire. The students urged that individuals in the United States should oppose the use of their tax money to fund what they believe is a genocide.

Categories: October 11, 2024 Now that it’s October, the weather will begin to chill, the leaves will change colors and with that comes a change in fashion trends. Here are some of my predictions for what we’ll see this autumn. For class and casual outings, I expect to see lots of leggings, especially flared leggings. Chunky sweaters and cropped sweatshirts will be all the rage, mostly in neutral colors.
