Eight Permian athletes were recognized for their hard work for continuing to play at the collegiate level with a Spring Athletic Signing Ceremony Monday at the Permian Indoor Training Facility. Going into Friday’s championship round of the NJCAA Southwest District A Tournament, the Odessa College softball team needed two wins against Grayson College to win the title. The Lady Wranglers completed the first part of that task but couldn’t finish off the Vikings. No. 5 ranked Grayson College (51-6) won the tournament championship after defeating Odessa College 5-3 in Game 2 of Friday’s doubleheader at Wrangler Softball Complex.

The Odessa College softball team’s hopes of winning the NJCAA Southwest District A Championship have taken a hit. Going up against the No. 5 ranked Grayson College Vikings, the No. 7 Lady Wranglers came up short in the semifinal, suffering a 2-1 loss Thursday at the Wrangler Softball Complex. With the loss, the Lady Wranglers (44-5) saw their 29-game winning streak come to an end. It was Odessa College’s first loss since an 11-4 defeat to Temple College back on Feb. 23.
