Mark German wasn’t ready to ride off into the sunset just yet after a nearly 40-year teaching and administrative career. The Bedford High School athletic director is looking forward to taking on a new opportunity later this summer. German, who spent the past 15 years leading the Kicking Mules’ athletic department, will be taking over as Rossford High School’s athletic director on Aug. 1.

After a decorated career on and off the football field at Eastern Michigan University, Brian Dooley has continued to pursue his dreams on the gridiron. The St. John’s Jesuit High School graduate is excited for his current situation a short drive up the road. Dooley, a 6-foot-5, 318-pound offensive lineman, has been playing in the United Football League for the Michigan Panthers.

Toledo continued its theme of wacky series openers at home on Tuesday night, but the Mud Hens found a way to continue their strong stretch. After the Mud Hens gave up the game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning, Jahmai Jones was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to score Brewer Hicklen and give Toledo a 5-4 win over the Iowa Cubs at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens (16-18) earned their 11th victory in the past 13 games.
