The Toledo native and Whitmer High School graduate has a good chance of getting another title in the coming days. Hoskins, who earned a Super Bowl ring in 2023 as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, has spent the spring playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the United Football League.

OBERLIN, Ohio — The deepest tournament run in nearly 50 years for Clay’s baseball team came to an end Thursday. Despite taking advantage of five Amherst Steele errors and numerous other miscues, the Eagles came up just short of the state semifinals in falling 7-4 to the Comets in a Division II regional final at Oberlin College. Clay was seeking its first final four appearance since 1979 when the Eagles won the Class AAA state championship.

A special weekend could be on tap for numerous area track and field athletes and teams. Local standouts in nearly every event will look to finish their season high atop the podium when they compete in the OHSAA state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The meet begins at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning with Division II and Division III events and concludes Saturday night with Division I running finals. For the past month and a half, the Toledo Mud Hens have turned winning into the norm. Given the amount of talent and big-league experience up and down the roster, is it an expectation to win at such a high rate like the Mud Hens have in tallying 28 victories in their past 36 games? “It’s not across Triple-A, I’ll tell you that much. But here, it is, and that’s what’s awesome,” Mud Hens pitcher Nick Margevicius said after Toledo’s 4-0 victory over the Louisville Bats on Sunday at Fifth Third Field.
