DULUTH, Minn. — An event inspiring students to look into a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field took place on Monday. The Lincoln Park Middle School in Duluth hosted a STEMpathy Career Fair. 6th and 7th graders learned from local professionals about their career paths. Representatives from Essentia and Aspirus-St. Luke’s, a forensic scientist, and different engineering companies were in attendance.

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Women owned small businesses are being celebrated over in Superior. It is all part of Pink Friday. This nationwide event takes place annually the Friday before Black Friday encouraging shoppers to shop local ahead of the holidays. This is the 2nd year the Superior Business Improvement District is celebrating this day with many deals and discounts. There are 17 businesses participating including are Artistic Florals by Leslie, Weeping Willow, Mix Cosmetiques and 2540 Coffee House.

DULUTH, Minn. — We are just one day away from the start of a popular holiday attraction in the Twin Ports. Bentleyville Tour of Lights happening at Bayfront Festival Park begins Saturday night with Santa flying in by helicopter just before 5pm, and then fireworks from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m.This is the 21st year of the light extravaganza with over 5,000,000 lights. Donations of non-perishable food items and new unwrapped toys will go towards families in need.

CLOQUET, Minn. — Community members are all set up for the 2024 Holiday Craft and Vendor Event in Cloquet this weekend. The event starts Friday at 9 a.m. at the Cloquet Armory and Pinetree Plaza. Attendees will find handmade items, crafts, holiday gifts from local artisans, and food trucks. There will be free shuttle service between each location. DULUTH, Minn. — With holiday shopping underway, professors at UMD are looking at how the economy may affect trends this year. The Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research for UMD says inflation levels have lowered to pre-pandemic levels of about 2% this year. Wages have increased faster than the rate of inflation so the average household may have more buying power than they did last season. One way to look at how prices are increasing is the Consumer Price Index or CPI.
