AbstractCortical function reflects the activities of populations of neurons. How accurately they can encode information depends on the speed with which each neuron can respond to input, as revealed by dynamic gain analysis. Theory predicts that the determinants of a population's dynamic gain - cell number, cell size and the correlation time of the background noise - control the speed with which the population can respond to input.

STOCKTON, Calif. – The men's swim and dive teams from 1964-1968 will be honored as part of the Class of 2024 for the Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame. A special reception and dinner take place on Friday, Feb. 23 in the Janssen-Lagorio Gymnasium on the Pacific campus. "It's an exciting feeling," said Donn Livoni, who was one of the swimmers during the era. "I feel much appreciated. I believe the group that is being inducted has earned this recognition.

STOCKTON, Calif. – Graduate student Stefan Vavic and fifth-year senior Rene Peralta were named ACWPC Men's Water Polo All-America Honorable Mention selections, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced Thursday. "I'm extremely happy for Rene and Stefan to be recognized for their excellent play this year," said Pacific head coach James Graham.
