ONEONTA, N.Y. — Russell Sage College junior pitcher Leah Madore threw a no-hitter in game one of this afternoon’s Empire 8 Conference doubleheader at Hartwick. The lone Hawk to reach base on the right-hander came via a walk in the first inning. Madore (7-7), who no-hit Keuka on Saturday, tallied 14 strikeouts during the 5-0 win. “We are very proud of Leah for another no-hitter in back-to-back conference game starts,” said Gators head coach Stephanie McKay.

HOUSTON (AP) — Hunter Brown struck out a season-high nine in seven innings, and the Houston Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-0 on Monday night. Brown (3-1) allowed two hits and walked one while extending his scoreless streak to 24 consecutive innings. Forrest Whitley finished the two-hitter. It was Houston’s second shutout of the season.
