Shakespeare by the Sea might have a new temporary home base, but the nonprofit is still exposing the Bard's works to the South Bay and beyond this summer with "Julius Caesar" and "As You Like It," beginning June 14. SBTS had been based in San Pedro for more than 20 years, but its former home will soon be redeveloped. So the Beach Cities Health District jumped in, allowing space for not only SBTS, but also the Little Fish Theatre, which produces small plays year-round indoors.

Hermosa Beach will also light up Pier Plaza in rainbow colors throughout the month of June to show that "love is love" and the celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, according to Hermosa Beach Councilmember Mike Detoy.

The Gundo Comedy & BBQ Festival will return to El Segundo on Thursday, for a collaboration between top pit masters and comedians around the country. El Segundo resident Dave Williamson founded the Gundo Comedy Festival 10 years ago and attracted top comedians like Bert Kreischer, but the pandemic halted the popular festival, after the 2019 iteration; it didn’t return until last year. But Williamson’s passion for barbecue began years before that.
