(KOIN) – A former United States Army Sergeant, who last served at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in western Washington, pleaded guilty on Wednesday after attempting to share military secrets with China, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. Officials said 31-year-old Joseph Daniel Schmidt pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in Seattle to two federal felonies including attempting to deliver national defense information and retention of national defense information.
